Children learn simple techniques to help them take control of their mental well-being and become true Mindfulness Superheroes.
Through games and exercises the children will learn strategies to help them cope with unwanted emotions they may be experiencing and how to control their breathing and heartbeat to cultivate calm and resilience. In children, mindfulness has been found to improve mental health and social skills. It can also mitigate the effects of bullying and enhance focus for learning.
During the workshop the children will:
-
explore the basic concept of mindfulness
-
take part in simple mindfulness exercises that can be used at home and in the classroom
-
develop skills and strategies to help them be more resilient
-
explore how to communicate their feelings effectively
The workshop has been designed to maximise participation and includes props and accessories to aid learning. Sessions can be tailored for KS1, KS2 and KS3 students.
