Zest Dance Workshops - cultural dance workshops

Overview
Ages
Locations

Zest Dance Workshops have been teaching in schools across the UK for 20 years, so are extremely experienced to deliver exceptional workshops for your school.

We offer exciting educational school dance workshops from Foundation to Key Stage Three and beyond.

Our highly trained teachers deliver workshops in all styles of dance to all ages and abilities. We encourage student's creativity and imagination, and dance is the perfect platofrm to explore this. They have lots of fun whilst learning a new skill which increases the learning around a topic.

We are experienced working in Secial Needs Schools. Children with physical disabilities, special educational needs or children with English as a second language. We believe dance is a great art form for everyone to enjoy, whatever your ability.

The workshops are National Curriculum friendly and fitted around your school timetable.

Location

We are based in London but also have experienced teachers based in other locations around the UK.

Length

We do half day (2.5hrs) or whole day workshops (9am till 3.15pm). Shorter workshops or multiple days on request.

Dance styles

We deliver cultural diversity workshops to educate children on world dance styles. We feel it's very important to celebrate the diverse cultures from the children at the school, so they feel 'seen' and appreciated for their different backgrounds.

We also offer Decades dance workshops - to link in with a period of history.

Our workshops are educational as they not only offer practical dance skills and technique, but we also talk about the history and background of the dance.

Zest's workshops cover many world dance styles, here are some of our most popular styles:

  • Brazilian Carnival, Street, Contemporary, Bollywood, African, Spanish Fusion, Greek, English Country, Chinese, Hip Hop, Physical Theatre, Russian, Ukranian and many more.

Themed days

Or if you want some dance workshops added to your themed day, we can do that too. We link our workshops with:

  • History day
  • Arts Week
  • International Day/Week
  • Chinese New Year
  • Diwali festival/Holi festival
  • World book day
  • Black History Month

Props and costumes

Your Zest dance teacher dresses up in a costume relating to the topic, theme, or country the dance is from. We also bring in props to show the children. This gives a rounded and informative dance session, and opens up the topic further.

Inset Sessions

We also do Inset Dance sessions to guide teachers on how to teach dance lessons. We leave you with a dance pack, and loads of practical tools and lesson plan ideas.

Zest's teachers

All of our teachers are very experienced, have a passion for teaching dance, have current DBS checks and dance insurance.

Mission

We want to pass on our knowlege and passion for dance to the younger generation. We have worked with hundreds of schools and colleges over the years - and love what we do!
