The Primary Works has been referred to as a leading science enhancement company for primary schools. Offering exciting, creative and challenging science workshops for keys stages 1 and 2, TPW regularly takes rebookings from schools to develop the science of forces, using rockets, kites and parachutes. All are constructed by the children under expert guidance from owner, Jonathan Forgham. Jonathan was a primary school teacher for 30 years, science subject leader and occasional advisor to Herts County Council. He has a fellowship in science, was a UK delegate to Physics on Stage (an 8 day European physics conference at the European Space Agency) and is an ISSET (International Space School Educational Trust) qualified space camp leader.
The Primary Works also offers school workshops in any other area of science with particular emphasis on using owl pellets (when available) to discover about the structure of skeletons.
Presently, he has developed a series of rocket challenges that suit the Olympic theme. These revolve around children constructing a variety of rockets that are then tested to see if they can beat distances such as Olympic long jump and triple jump records, whilst others try to match high jump and even pole vault records. This raises the profile of the outstanding nature of human achievement and acts as a great starter to any Olympic themed initiative.
