Educational sessions (presentations and workshops) involving a wide variety of living specimens of different species, all of which are friendly, tame, handleable and entirely trustworthy. All sessions are delivered by a qualified, professional educator who has full (enhanced) CRB clearance. We don’t bother with peculiar gimmicks or names – we simply deliver a superb service designed to inform your pupils and help you reach your teaching objectives. We have available to us numerous animals of many species, and this allows us to offer a wide range of subjects, topics and themes. Our "General Session" (see “The Sessions”), is one of our most popular, and consists of a range of animals covering mammals, reptiles, birds, amphibia and invertebrates, and is an ideal introduction to many scientific principles. The session explains the basic differences between these classes of animal, and also examines adaptations of each species which allow that animal to fully exploit its own ecological niche. The content has many cross-curricular links, and other areas covered in this session include geography, the senses, colour and design, defence mechanisms, history, habitats, conservation, lifestyles and natural history. All sessions are geared to meet the requirements of the National Curriculum and are very much hands-on and educational, while still being great fun and very exciting. The educational content of every session is sound and accurate, and is always at the correct level for the audience. Teachers will receive planning notes, risk assessments, insurance details, preparation notes and relevant information for the visit. All sessions are designed to be relevant to the National Curriculum, and can be delivered for Foundation and Key Stages 1, 2 or 3. Sessions can also be structured to help students in their project work at KS4. All sessions aredelivered by TV presenter and zoologist James McKay, who holds a Cert.Ed. and is a highly experienced teacher at all levels. Visits are charged either by the hour, half-day (3 hours) or full-day (6 hours), with a minimum visit of 2 hours. We have over 40 topics ready prepared, but also offer a bespoke service to ensure we deliver what you want. Please contact us for more information and a no-obligation quote.
