During visit, the Soldier will arrive, as he did nearly 2,000 years ago, wearing his full armour and carrying his marching pack (impedimenta)when his legion invaded Britain in 43 A.D.
All equipment worn, shown and demonstrated is copied from actual archaeological finds. Some Real artifacts also included in handling sessions
What the Soldier Talks about:
Where he came from and why he joined the army.
What he had to learn to be a soldier.
What was all his equipment for and why he couldn’t shop at Tesco. (handling session with artifacts)
Why they wanted to conquer Britain.
How the Romans defeated the Britons and squashed the rebellions of Boudicca.
The Benefits of becoming a citizen.
Living in a new Roman Town, going to the baths, shopping, watching the games, having central heating…etc.
Life as a captured Briton, sold as a slave. Better or worse? You decide.
Could you be a soldier…?
Who will volunteer to join the army and get dressed in a real set of Roman Armour ?
Who can identify the the Equipment in the soldiers pack. What is it for, what its made of, do we use it today ?
Can they work together as a team like Roman soldiers as they are trained with shields and formation marching.
Can they perform the Testutoid (tortoise) formation under fire? (from the teachers).
Who’s got the best question….?
All sessions can be tailored to suit.

All our Soldiers carry enhanced CRB. we are able to offer into schools. Roman Soldier, Roman Medicine, Life in new Roman Towns, Archaeologist into schools. All visits are interactive using Character acting, role play and questioning to develop the students understanding of the period
