The music:

Steel drum music is most commonly associated with the Caribbean and this is the genre that is mostly taught. The steel pan is a versatile instrument however, and fits well with a variety of other styles including classical, jazz and even Christmas carols!

The Workshops:

The most popular format would be for either two or three musicians to come in for a whole day, which can include a performance at the beginning of the day, the end of the day, or both.

The rest of the day can either be spent giving talks to classes, or giving tuition to smaller groups of children. Hand outs are given to each group catered for and the age of the children is carefully considered. Depending on how many children you have, it should be possible for everyone to try playing an instrument at some point.
