At Peacemakers we specialise in helping schools with the conflct in their schools. We offer peacemkaer workshops that build the social and emotional skills that underlie peaceful conflict resolution as well as training in Peer Mediation. We also offer workshops for teachers in handling conflict in the classroom.
Peer Mediation
A successful Peer Mediation programme liberates teachers and empowers young people, resolving conflicts consensually. Children often have a better insight into the causes of conflict in “their world”, and combining this with a range of skills produces effective mediators.
The benefits of peer mediation:
- Teachers’ time is freed up to teach, with less time spent arbitrating
- Students taken on a new mantle of responsibility and develop transferrable skills including confidence, neutrality, listening, empathy
- Solutions between disputants are consensual and therefore more likely to last
Peacemakers: Delivered through weekly circle time workshops, this course is beneficial for each individual, for the class dynamic, and for teachers. Its aim is to help build strong relationship in the classroom and provide the skills to continue doing so. It is not 'one size fits all', instead each course is tailored to the needs of the group by the trainer.
