The Bollywood Brass Band presents an exciting and engaging experience for your school or college; we can tailor all kinds of workshops, interactive talks and performances to children and young people at all key stages. Our workshops link to the National Curriculum and are creative, informative and fun.
The band is a 10-piece but the workshop group can be smaller depending on your needs and budget; workshops can involve the whole band or smaller groups or individuals.
Bands and ensembles – the Bollywood Brass Band boasts many experienced workshop leaders who can make creative arrangements with any combination of instruments. From brass and wind to keyboards and guitars to classroom instruments, their versatile members can engage any age group in making an exciting ensemble sound.
Interactive Concert Performances can be adapted for any age group; a 50 minute performance accompanied by colourful Bollywood film clips demonstrates various instruments: brass, woodwind and percussion, including more unusual instruments. There is plenty of audience participation including question and answer sessions, and follow-up student worksheets with questions about the music.
Bollywood Dance Workshops are fun, exciting, energetic and suitable for all ages. Participants learn a variety of Bollywood moves, expressions and gestures which are put into a routine to music by the BBB.
Drumming – all BBB drummers are experienced percussion workshop leaders and have worked in various styles. Drum workshops include Bhangra and Bollywood beats and can also include fusion such as samba beats combined with Bhangra. All percussion and types of drum can be included, eg: drum kit, dhol, tabla, djembe, congas, bongos and more.
Multi-media presentation – with images, video and music, with the full band or 2-3 members as required. A talk outlines the Band’s history, the development of the Bollywood film industry, brass bands in India, South Asian weddings and Bollywood and Bhangra in Britain today. A live performance and demonstration of instruments can be included.
SEN Workshops are run by BBB musicians with experience of working in Special Schools. Workshops are inclusive, friendly and responsive to the individual needs of pupils. They help children reach their full musical potential and include games, singing, percussion and playing a simple arrangement of a Bollywood tune. Workshops develop listening skills, responding to aural and visual cues and playing together as a group.
Participants will listen intimately to drums, wind and brass instruments; play along with BBB musicians and enjoy visually stimulating Bollywood film and dance.
