About:

We are a charity and theatre in education company using professional theatre to engage, inform and inspire young people to believe they are of worth. Our presentations and workshops cover the PSHE curriculum and enable young people to make healthy informed decisions about important subjects like sex and relationships, alcohol, mental health, self esteem, university and life choices.

We currently have 5 theatre based shows suitable for years 7 -11 PHSE curriculum. Each presentation includes a 50 minute live theatre show which is followed up with a 50 minute interactive lesson which discusses the issues addressed. ( timings of lesson can be adapted to fit school timetable). We also have a resource for Sixth formers which is a film with discussion and workshop which looks at university, alcohol, healthy relationships, sexual health and life after school.

We also have a resource suitable for Years 5&6 called 'Marvellous Me' which looks at body changes, healthy relationships, conception and pregnancy and handling emotions. It is a series of 5 fun and interactive lessons which are an age appropriate approach to preparing children for the physical and emotional changes they will face as they get older.

"Going Public TIE have been a superb addition to the PSHE programme at Treorchy Comprehensive School. Pupils and staff alike have responded very positively to the presentations and workshops; pupils were entertained and yet challenged by the clear messages delivered by the team. The pupils' behaviour has been excellent during the presentations which is a reflection of Going Public's ability to engage the pupils. Pupils found it much more engaging than sitting in a classroom and talking; they found the plays funny but were able to identify the serious messages behind the comedy. One member of staff stated the session on relationships was the best he'd ever been to. It has ensured that relevant, high quality, vital information has been shared with the pupils which I have no doubt will stay with them as they face the challenges of growing up in a pressured, ever changing world. Thank you" - Esther Joseph, Pastoral teacher at Treorchy Comprehensive.

“…I feel Iike today you’ve given me loads more self esteem as I am really feeling the pressure to lose weight but I feel happy now, just the way I am” - Anonymous note left in our question box from pupil at a school in Monmouth
