About:

INDOOR EDUCATIONAL DISPLAYS

We bring along some native species of birds of prey from a selection of: Barn Owl, Little Owl, Long-eared Owl, Kestrel, Peregrine falcon and Golden Eagle. Also we bring a few species of raptors from around the world, from a selection of: American Kestrel, Chaco Owl, Great grey owl, Harris Hawk, Turkey vulture, and various species of Eagle Owls.

As we house over 50 birds of prey, if you have any specific requirements then please contact us.

A usual team of birds for these sessions consists of 6 or 8 of the different species of birds metioned above. We adapt the content of each session according to the age group.

As well as flying the birds we talk about the physical adaptations of birds of prey and owls, also the habitat, habits and diet of these birds in the wild. These sessions are performed inside (preferably a school hall), so we never have to worry about the unpredictable weather! The aim is to teach about indigenous raptor species and what individuals can do to help protect them. During visits an age appropriate talk is given on anatomy, flight and nutrition. They also cover National Curriculum subjects like: living things in the environment, food chains and feed webs, feeding relationships and hunting techniques.

Visits enable the children to experience the art of silent flight as owls fly in the class room over their heads we also include a Q & A session which rewards correct answers with the opportunity to hold a bird.

OUTDOOR EDUCATIONAL DISPLAYS

Our outdoor falconry displays are a truly fantastic way to entertain your pupils, staff and guests we'll also provide an impressive static display of birds of prey on perches with name badges and Falconers on hand to answer questions. Two flying demonstrations can be given showing the amazing feats of the birds in flight, from the delicate owls, which swoop over the students heads, to the simulated hunting skills of the hawks. You can also marvel at the size and majesty of the magnificent Golden eagle and the high speed dexterity of the Peregrine falcon, which can reach speeds of over 185 miles per hour.
